Issue 592
Did you know that United Nations estimates that 4 billion people lack a reliable way to address their homes? Apparently 75% of the world suffers from poor addressing or none at all. In short, they find it hard to tell others where they are or how to be found.
A group of geocoders has divided the entire world into a grid of 3 meter by 3 meter squares and assigned each one a 3 word address. If you Google “what3words” you can explore this idea yourself. That strategy attempts to answer the question “where are you?” It got me thinking about 3 word answers to other questions such as “who are you?” or “what defines you?”
When I describe myself I often use the words “writer; speaker; coach” to let people know what I do. Other times I will use the phrase “reducing; unnecessary; pain” to indicate a passion of mine.
In one sense it’s an arbitrary way of approaching these questions but it also provides a useful exercise to focus your thinking.
As you seek to live out your beliefs and values, what 3 words would you use to describe yourself? Interestingly, what words would others use to describe you?
God has revealed divine nature in 3 words “Father; Son; Spirit.” Sometimes we use the words “body; soul; spirit” to describe ourselves. For some reason 3 words often crop up when we describe important aspects of our lives.
What about Jesus of Nazareth (3 words)? Did he give us some 3 word phrases or groups of words to focus our minds? “Love; one; another” comes to mind, how about “gain; whole; world” and “lose; your; soul”? They conjure up images of deeper truths.
Speaking of which he called himself “Way; Truth; Life”. Perhaps, as you reflect on this, you can turn it into a prayer that the Spirit will work in you to balance and enhance your reputation, for example, as person of “honesty; integrity; reliability”.
The more you look the more you will find (“ask; seek; knock”) and may I suggest the more you will be inspired. This week as we ”restart; weekly; email” my prayer is that you will deepen your own self-awareness of what it means to be a citizen of the “Kingdom; of; God” as we continue to explore Jesus’ favorite title for himself “Son; of; Man”.
I look forward to walking with you on this journey which “Paul; of; Tarsus” distilled down into “faith; hope; love”

BIBLE SECTION
John 14:5-8
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know[a] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
